A day after 21 people were killed in a road accident in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh, BJP leader and former Transport Minister, Thakur Mahender Singh demanded resignation of the Transport Minister, GS Bali in the wake of a series of accidents. He said the number of accidents in the recent past was the highest in the tenure of any transport minister in the history of Himachal Pradesh.
"Bali should take moral responsibility of the accidents and step down forthwith," Thakur said.
Referring to the bus accident of HRTC buses in Shimla district on Wednesday, he said hundreds of lives of the innocent persons had been lost in accidents during the tenure of Bali due to “inefficiency and mismanagement”. Thakur alleged the transport minister was promoting private players and meeting out a step-motherly treatment with the HRTC drivers and other employees causing widespread resentment amongst them and added that eye-brows were being raised against his style of functioning. The BJP leader said the matter would be raised in the forthcoming Vidhan Sabha session beginning from August 6.
