The Brahmapur district BJP launched the programme “One note, one vote” here on Wednesday. Party workers with a sealed container and sporting saffron caps moved from shop to shop in the busiest area of the city.
Many people, primarily from the business community, dropped one note in the container while others looked on with interest. BJP leader and former Minister Surama Padhi earlier inaugurated the programme while another senior party leader and former State Assembly Speaker Rama Chandra Panda accompanied the party workers to the shops and appealed to the public to support Narendra Modi to become Prime Minister. Panda said the public response to the programme was spontaneous and encouraging.
Earlier, the party leaders had gone in a procession in the city trying to sensitise the public about the importance of the BJP in the coming elections. Among others, BJP district president Bijay Kumar Swain and general secretary Sunil Sahu and Mahanagar president Rama Kumar Patra participated in the programme, which would cover all the 40 wards of the city in 10 days.
