The BJP on Tuesday urged the State Cooperative Election Commissioner to declare cutoff date for accepting new members in the co-operative societies as per the notification issued by the State Cooperative Election Commission on October 27 this year.
BJP leaders including Surama Padhy, Samir Mohanty and Sajjan Sharma met the State Cooperative Election Commissioner here and submitted a memorandum to him. The leaders in the memorandum mentioned that the cutoff date for accepting new members in the co-operative societies has not been defined in a specific and proper manner for which there is a huge confusion in the mind of the members, Chief Executive Officers of the co-operative societies as well as election officers and administrative officers of the Co-operative Department.
The BJP Odisha State Cooperative Cell demanded the Commissioner for fixation of the cutoff date for accepting new members in the co-operative societies. “If any inclusion in the member list thereafter, they should not be treated as valid or eligible members to cast their vote and participate in the ensuing election process.
The party also told in the memorandum that the judgment passed by the High Court on October 22 should be taken into consideration so far as the date of publication of the notification dated October 27 by the Commission in this regard.
