Salil Jain, presently posted as Deputy Manager (Operations) in Blast Furnace Department of Bhilai Steel Plant, has made SAIl proud by securing all India ‘second’ rank in the 14th National Certification Examination for Energy Managers and Energy Auditors held in August last year.
The examination is conducted annually by National Productivity Council (NPC), Chennai on behalf of Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Government of India (GoI). The examination is open only for engineering professionals who have requisite work experience involving use of energy in operation, maintenance, planning etc.
The GoI has enforced The Energy Conservation Act, 2001 w.e.f March 01, 2002. The Act provides mainly for efficient use of energy and its conservation and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
As per the EC Act 2001, it is mandatory for all the designated energy consumers (of which steel industry is one) to get energy audit conducted by an Accredited Energy Auditor in a manner and interval of time as specified and to designate or appoint Energy Managers.
