With the fan fare and march of brass band and pipe band, ‘Beating the Retreat’ ceremony was started at the Parade Ground of OSAP 7th battalion here on Thursday. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik attended as the chief guest of the function.
The hoisted flag on the Republic Day was retreated at sunset of Thursday evening according to the tradition. The ceremony began with fan fare and ended with marvelous fireworks and massal tattoo display at the parade ground.
Following the up and down march of brass band and pipe band with the tune of different rhythmic tunes and cultural show was conducted. Dhemsa dance, Sambalpuri dance, Odissi dance, patriotic display, Mass PT and Massal tattoo were displayed by the jawans of different battalions of the OSAP.
Among others, Director General of Police Prakash Mishra, Police Commissioner Dr RP Sharma and other senior police officials were present. Hundreds of people have enjoyed the fanfare, march, drum beating and cultural show displayed in the ceremony.
