Cross sections of people, prominently lawyers including Justice Biswanatha Mohapatra of the State High Court and District Judge Malaya Ranjan Das, on Monday remembered Utkal Gaurav Madhusudan Das, the architect of the Odisha province, on his 166th birth anniversary and paid rich tributes to him at Angul.
At a meeting organised by the Angul Bar Association and presided over by its president advocate Dillip Dash, Justice Mohapatra highlighted the life of Madhubabu with special reference to his success stories as a lawyer in the British-ruled India. He advised lawyers to dedicate their career for the betterment of society and become sincere like Madhubabu.
Celebrating the occasion, which is also known as the lawer’s Day, the District Bar Association discussed Madhubabu’s illustrious career as a lawyer who was the first Odia law graduate, a legal luminary and a source of inspiration for lawyers in the State. Addressing the meeting, District Judge Das recollected the contribution of the great Odia hero as a freedom fighter, patriot and lawyer rolled into one.
Presided over by its president advocate Aswini Kumar Behera, the meeting was also addressed by State Bar Association member advocate Sitansu Mohanty Dwibedy and Prof Kumuda Chandra Das. General secretary Rabindra Prasad Pattanaik elaborated the environmental disasters in Angul — Talcher industrial area and called for legal intervention by the Bar and its members to control it. Advocates of Talcher and Athamallik Bars also joined.
