Batch of 22 pilgrims leave for Kedarnath

Though many roads in the the State have remained closed to traffic due to debris and other factors, a batch of 22 pilgrims left for Kedarnath from Sonprayag on Wednesday morning accompanied by a team of the National Disaster Response Force.

According to information received from the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), in Rudraprayag district the Rishikesh-Kedarnath national highway (NH-109) is open till Sonprayag.The Srinagar- Khankra motor road is also open though the Guptkashi-Kalimath road is blocked by debris near Kaliatok. In the Chamoli district, the Rishikesh-Badrinath national highway (NH-58) is open for traffic though 38 rural motor roads in the district are blocked.

In Uttarkashi district the Rishikesh-Gangotri national highway (NH-108) and Rishikesh-Yamunotri national highway (NH-94) are open for traffic while in Pauri district 35 rural motor roads are closed to traffic.In Dehradun district seven motor roads are still blocked while in Almora district a total of 22 rural motor roads are closed to traffic. Twelve rural motor roads are blocked in Nainital district, 14 in Bageshwar district, 37 in Champawat district, about a dozen in Pithoragarh district and 23 in Tehri district.
