Incensed over the State Government allegedly failing to rectify recent revised circle rate, advocates of Bar Association Dehradun continued its indefinite strike outside the sub-registrar office on Saturday. Dehradun Additional DM (finance) Pratap Shah chaired a meeting with advocates over the issue on Saturday. He assured the advocates to arrange their meeting with State Government representative at Secretariat on Monday.
The lawyers in the State capital have been boycotting the land registration process since November 26 in protest against the increase in circle rates of land in Dehradun. The lawyers also boycotted work at the office of the sub registrar in Dehradun on Saturday, though ADM Shah had called a meeting with them. Following this, the work of land registration has been adversely affected at Dehradun, Vikasnagar and Rishikesh and other places in the district. It should be mentioned here that the government announced the implementation of new circle rates in Dehradun on November 1 and lawyers have been opposing the new rates ever since they were implemented.
An advocate said that the new circle rate is very high and have been decided with the intention of benefiting the builder lobby and the officials who have brought land in different parts of Dehradun.
Dehradun Bar Association secretary Raghuveer Singh Kathait said that a meeting of association members was held with the ADM Shah on Saturday. The meeting with the ADM was positive. The ADM has assured that he would arrange their meeting with government representative at Secretariat on Monday, he added.
He further said that No land registration had been done in Dehradun and other parts of the district for the past few days as the circle rate has been increased suddenly by the state government. "The association has decided to intensify its protest if demands are not met soon, he warned.
