Two Principal Secretaries of the Chhattisgarh Government — N Baijendra Kumar and MK Raut — have been promoted to the rank of the Additional Chief Secretary, an official statement informed on Saturday.
The 1985-batch IAS officer, Kumar, is currently posted as the Principal Secretary to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh. He also holds the Housing and Environment Department principal secretary post besides being the Chairman of Chhattisgarh Housing Board as well as the Chairman of Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA).
The 54-year-old Kumar— who belongs to Kerala — is considered a genius in the bureaucratic circle of the country and he represented India in many international-level conferences when he was on the Government of India deputation from 2000 to 2007. Meanwhile, the 1984-batch MK Raut is the Principal Secretary of Panchayat and Rural Development Department at present.
