The appointment of retired professors and readers of other states at the Ayurvedic colleges in Raipur and Bilaspur on contract basis has triggered protest in the State.Sources informed that about a dozen professors and readers have been appointed on contract basis in the Ayurvedic colleges in Raipur and Bilaspur. All of them belong to Odisha.
This has been done even though experienced lecturers and readers are available in the state. The government has initiated the process of recruitment to fill the vacant posts in both the colleges.
Since the rules clearly stated that the authorities can appoint retired people in the government colleges on contract basis, taking benefit of it, the appointments are being done, sources said.
In Odisha the statutory retirement age is 58 whereas the Chhattisgarh government has increased it to 65. As a result large number of retired professors and readers from Odisha have been applying for the vacant posts in Chhattisgarh.
The Government is not appointing the lecturers and readers working in the colleges citing that they are ineligible for contract posts although they have required qualification and experience.Sources said in Raipur Ayurvedic college several lecturers and readers have been working on one post for the last several years and they are unable to get promotions.
Expressing concern over the government move, the Ayurvedic teachers’ association has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Raman Singh. Besides, the association is bringing the matter to the notice of the Health Secretary. However, no steps have been taken by the Government on this matter.
