local police on Wednesday arrested seven persons on charges of smuggling cattle to the neighbouring State of Jharkhand.
Acting on a tip-off, Bargarh Sadar police arrested the persons, seized three pick-up vans and rescued 21 cattle heads being transported illegally from Jaring in Bargarh district to Khagsian in neighbouring Jharkhand at Haldipalli village.
While the seven arrested were forwarded to court, the rescued cattle were kept at the local Gopal Goshala, said SI Kanak Kumar Majhi.
