47 candidates file papers for various posts in DBS College

As many as 47 candidates have filed nominations for various posts of students’ union election in DBS (PG) College on Saturday. The polling will be held on September 4, said College election officer Pratyush Vatsala. The election will be held for various posts, including president, vice -president, general secretary, joint secretary, treasurer and university representatives in the college.

She further said that the college will hold an open speech programme at 11 am at college auditorium for the candidates who have filed nominations for various posts of the students’ union election on Monday. 

College was abuzz with students on Saturday as a large number of candidates filed nominations.  Accompanied with supporters, the candidates fined their nomination before the election officer. later, the supporters were found making rounds the campus and raising slogans in favour of their candidates.

 Two candidates — Ashish Joshi and Himanshu Kumar- filed nomination for the post of president. Nine candidates named Anoop Anthwal, Rajni, Surya Kant Mishra, Anshul Gupta, Jeet Singh, Harpreet Singh, Vishal Shodh, Anoop Singh and Arvind Singh Negi filed nomination for the post of vice- president. Two candidates -Nityanand Kothiyal and Vipul Gaur -are contesting election for the post of secretary. 13 candidates filed nominations for the post of joint secretary while four candidates- Prakash Singh, Rohan Singh Rawat, Saurabh Kumar and Saurabh Patwal- for the post of treasurer. As many as 17 candidates filed nomination for the post of university representatives. Following errors in nomination papers, the nominations of four candidates (including one candidate for the post of vice- president and three for joint secretary) were cancelled by the election officer. A total of 43 candidates are in the fray for various posts now. 

The electoral model of conduct was enforced with the declaration of election notification on August 25. Election in the college will be conducted based on the recommendations of lyngdoh Committee, she added.
