28 pilgrims leave for Char Dham under MBMT plan

As many as 28 pilgrims under the 'Mere Buzurg Mere Teerth' (MBMT) scheme left for the Char Dham pilgrimage from Bageshwar on Monday.

Out of the 28 pilgrims, including 16 females, as many as 12 pilgrims are from Bageshwar tehsil, followed by Garud tehsil with 14 pilgrims and Kapkot tehsil with two pilgrims, said the officials concerned of the Bageshwar district administration.

The first batch of pilgrims  from Bageshwar tehsil campus under the MBMT scheme was flagged off for Chardham pilgrimage  by B S Manral, District Magistrate, Bageshwar  on Monday morning.

 Speaking on the occasion, Manral said that this scheme is a free of cost scheme launched by the Government for the people above 65 years of age.

 More so, the pilgrims above 65 years are being sent on the pilgrimage only when their health conditions are found normal following medical checkup, he stated.  This is a four- day long Char Dham pilgrimage, he added.
