Chandigarh: Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has started another toll free number 1064 other than 18001802022 along with one landline number 0172-2581102 (available 24X7) and Whatsapp number 09417891064. Haryana State Vigilance Bureau Director General Yash Pal Singal said that public can send their information or complaints on Facebook and Twitter pages at https://www.facebook.com/SVBHARYANA and https://www.twitter.com/SVBHARYANA so as to check corruption in the State.
Ranike launches welfare dept’s website
Chandigarh: Taking Punjab Government’s e-governance initiative a step further, the State Welfare Minister Gulzar Singh Ranike on Tuesday launched department’s website —www.welfarepunjab.gov.in — to create awareness about the welfare schemes, disseminate information and to bring transparency in the department’s functioning. The website, developed by the minority wing with the help of National Informatics Centre, contains information of rules and regulations of the Department and also links with Punjab SC Finance Corporation, Punjab BC Corporation, Director SCSP, Punjab State SC Commission and Punjab State BC Commission.
PU lists sports achievements of 2014
Chandigarh: Panjab University, Chandigarh, sports teams had many achievements in various All India Inter University tournaments during 2014. PU team won three AIIU titles, remained runners up in 10 AIIU championships and got third place in eight AIIU championships. Giving details, spokesperson said that PU team won AIIU titles in Boxing (Men), Rowing (Men) and Shooting Air Pistol (Men), while remained runners-up in Basketball (Men), Handball (Men), Archery (Men), Judo (Men), Softball (Women), Yoga (Women), Archery (Women), Shooting (Women), Swimming (Men) and Handball (Women). PU team secured third place in Softball (Men), Squash (Men), Yoga (Men), Korfball (Men), Korfball (Women), Fencing (Women), Volleyball (Men) and Handball (Men).
PU researcher selected as 2015 ASPA face
Chandigarh: UGC, Senior Research Fellow, at the Department of Public Administration, Panjab University Ranjeet Singh has been selected as 2015 Founders’ Fellow of American Society for Public Administration (ASPA), United States. ASPA is the largest and most prominent professional association for public administration. For 2015, ASPA has selected 25 Founders’ Fellows from across the globe. As a Founders’ Fellow of ASPA, Ranjeet Singh would attend its five-day 2015 Annual Conference to be held at Chicago from March 6, 2015, and would present his essay paper titled, “Electronic Public Service Delivery: An Assessment of E-Sampark Centres in Union Territory Chandigarh (India)”.
PU Fb page ranks fifth among all institutions
Chandigarh: Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, has achieved another national recognition in the field of social media as its official Facebook page — https://www.facebook.com/official.pu.india — has been given top rank amongst all the public universities of the country. PU Facebook page got fifth rank and the ranking has been given by India’s leading career counselling web-portal Career360. Incidentally, PU had become the first Indian Public University, whose Facebook Page was verified. Congratulating the students and 76.5 thousand followers of the page, PU PR Director Vineet Punia said that the credit for the success in just one year of operation goes to them.
CHEMCON-2014 concludes
Chandigarh: 67th annual session of Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE), the CHEMCON-2014, concluded at Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, on Tuesday. CHEMCON-2014 was hosted by IIChE in collaboration with Dr SS Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology of PU, Chandigarh campus. The last day of the mega tech fest started with an invited lecture by Prof Ram Prasad of Department of Chemical Engineering and Technology of IIT, Varanasi, who threw light on polluting hazards of combustion engines being used.
Kurukshetra AIR celebrates silver jubilee

Duties allotted to advocates by HDlSA
Chandigarh: Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-District legal Services Authority’s secretary Sumit Garg on Tuesday said that legal Care and Support Centres (lCSCs) had been set up to redress the problems of people and complaints of various departments. Haryana District legal Service Authority has also allotted duties to the advocates to serve at these lCSCs across districts in the State. Garg said that legal Aid Clinics were being set up in Primary Health Centres. Besides, a clinic is also working in the Protection Office where advocates have also been allotted duties.
Khattar wishes employees on New Year’s eve
Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar on Tuesday greeted the officers and officials of the State Government on the eve of the New Year and extended his best wishes to them as well as to their families. The employees have played a great role in the development of the State and safeguarding their interests remains the primary concern of the Government. He urged them not to believe in rumors as the Government would keep taking decisions for their welfare. “I hope the State will progress on all fronts in the coming year with the contribution of employees,” he said.
Ashmah I’ntl School organises annual function

PUTIA demands post matric scholarship funds
Chandigarh: Punjab Unaided Technical Institutions Association (PUTIA) on Tuesday demanded the immediate release of funds meant for scholarships of students of SC, ST and other backward classes from the Punjab Government as more than 400 Unaided Technical Institutions of Punjab and students are facing hardship due to delay in the release of funds. PUTIA president Dr JS Dhaliwal said that hundreds of well-established technical institutions of Punjab are on the verge of closure due to the delay in release of scholarship funds.
IMA constitutes new governing body
