Phase-V poll: 13 more candidates file papers

As many as 13 candidates on Saturday filed nomination for phase-V of Assembly elections. Number of candidates to file nomination for the last phase has reached 68 with the nomination made on Saturday. Meanwhile, six candidates have pulled out of election leaving 217 candidates in the poll fray for phase-IV constituencies.

DPS students participate in reading campaign

Students of Delhi Public School, Ranchi participated in ‘One Nation Reading Together’ programme initiated by scholastic India. Under this nationwide reading campaign almost 1,000 students spent 40 minutes reading for pleasure. They also participated in activities like making book covers and book marks. The purpose of organizing this programme was to celebrate reading as a pleasurable and enriching experience.

Vikaspedia College Orientation Prog held

Vikaspedia is ‘a multilingual one-stop knowledge portal’ that targets specific country needs for achieving an inclusive social development. It aims at use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for rural empowerment by providing authentic information on its portal hi.vikaspedia.in. A college-level orientation programme was organised at the PG Department of Anthropology and MA in Rural Development Course, Ranchi University along with PG Department of Hindi, St Xavier’s College. About 150 students and teachers actively participated in the programme held on Saturday.

Sports Day at Taurian World School

The Annual Sports Day at Taurian World School, Ranchi had a colourful start on Saturday with dazzling and daredevil display of sports exercises and drill displays by the students. Phoenix house was declared the overall champion on this occasion. Binay Pattanayak (UNICEF –Regional Education Head Jharkhand) inaugurated the event at the school playground. Appreciating the Taurian management for its efforts in identifying the sports talent among the students, he was pleasantly surprised at the 65 acre campus of the school. Principal DR Singh said, “We are thankful to the teachers for organizing the activities and also would like to thanks whole Management and Administrative staffs for continuous encouragement and guidance.”

BSNl launches offer for ISD call to Bhutan

BSNl, the state owned company has introduced a STV-16 which enables its prepaid mobile customers to make ISD calls to Bhutan at the rate of 10 paisa per second. This STV costs merely Rs 16 and entitles a prepaid mobile customer to make ISD calls to Bhutan at a much cheaper rate for 18 days. It is worth mentioning that the normal ISD rate for Bhutan is Rs10 per minute.

JOA to select wrestlers for National Games

Wrestling players who were facing hurdles from Jharkhand Olympic Association (JOA) due to some technical reasons will now be selected for the 35th National Games on behalf of the State-run Olympic association. The information was given by JOA spokesperson Shailendra Pathak on Saturday. JOA has held a special annual general meeting at RK lawn Bowling stadium on Friday wherein it was decided that no casualty in organising the association management will be tolerated.
