Nalco holds seminar on vendor development

Bhubaneswar: To bring its service providers to the MSME fold, the Nalco’s S&P Complex, Angul, organised a vender development programme at its Training Centre on Tuesday with around 100 service providers participating in the programme. Angul District Cottage Industries Officer Gopabandhu Pradhan briefed about the objectives of the meeting. Nalco Executive Director (S&P) SK Roy highlighted the significance of the MSME sector in the national economy and referred to the various measures taken by the Nalco for growth of this sector.

Papadahandi ABDO under Vigilance scanner

Nabarangpur: On the allegation of acquisition and possession of disproportionate assets by Rajanikanta Das, ABDO, Papadahandi block in Nabarangpur district, his two residential house at Adarsha Nagar, Jeypore and office room at Papadahandi were simultaneously searched by Vigilance officers on Wednesday.

Boudh banker gets jail in bribery case

Phulbani: Brahmapur Vigilance Judge Pranati Mohanty on Thursday convicted one V Surya Prakash Rao, branch manager of BCC Bank at Boudh, for demanding bribe of Rs30,000 from one Nimai Sagar of Purunapani under the Manmunda police station. Rao demanded the bribe to release Sagar’s loan of Rs2 lakh, which had been sanctioned in June 2011. The judge, after examining six witnesses, awarded two years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs5,000, in default of which six months of more jail term.

K’mal woman gets lifer for killing husband

Phulbani: Additional District Judge Rajendra Kumar Tosh on Thursday sentenced one Sanju Kanhar to life imprisonment for killing her husband Sadananda Kanhar of Budijuda under the Phiringia police station in Kandhamal district in May 2013.

Students clean Nuapatna village road

Athagarh: Inspired by the call of PM Narendra Modi, students of the Educare Tutorial at Nuapatna village under Tigiria block held a cleanliness drive on the village road. Over 300 students led by Sonali Pradhan, Nibedita Mantri, Sanjukta Pal, Smarita Das, Bijaylaxmi Priyadarsini, Archana Barik, Padmavati Bardhan, Srikant Behera, Samir Rout and Jitu Parida participated in the drive and spread awareness on keeping the environment clean and hygienic.

Natural Calamity Day observed in Bargarh

Bargarh: A workshop was organised in George High School to mark the Natural Calamity Awareness Day on Wednesday. Headmistress Sunanda Panda presided over the programme. Bargarh ADM Pradeep Kumar Gartia, DRDA PD Rajendra Prasad Mund and SSA DPC Sushanta Kumar Chopadar attended the meeting as guests.
