JE held for taking bribe in Jajpur
Jajpur: Vigilance sleuths on Monday arrested Manoranjan lenka, Junior Engineer (JE) of Binjharpur block for accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 from a contractor of Danagadi village. As per complainant Sukanta Das, lenka had demanded the bribe to pass his bill amounting to Rs 3.68 lakh. The Vigilance officials caught lenka red-handed near the Maa Biraja Temple at Jajpur town while taking the bribe.
PlFI aide held in Sundargarh
Rourkela: The Bisra police have arrested one PlFI associate, Kaju Sahu (21) of Sanjore village in Sundargarh district, for his alleged involvement in various violence activities in the region. Kaju was involved in ransacking of a bus a week ago at loarama under Nuagaon Block. He had been providing information regarding businessmen, kiln owners and contractors to the PlFI cadres, IIC SK Das Kaju said, adding that police would be able to arrest more PlFI members after Kaju’s interrogation.
One held for raping minor girl in R’kela
Rourkela: The Uditnagar police on Sunday arrested one Amarjit Ghatual on charge of raping a minor girl of Malgodown basti here. Amarjit entered into the victim’s house and raped her when her parents were absent. Though neighbour came to her rescue hearing her shout, Amarjit managed to flee from the house. The accused was arrested on the basis of FIR lodged by victim’s parents, police informed.
Woman, baby die due to doc negligence
Banpur: Due to the alleged negligence of a doctor at the Balugaon Community Health Centre (CHC), one Rojalin and her newborn baby lost their lives on Saturday. Rojalin’s husband Monoj Nayak of Parinuagaon alleged that the gynaecologist forcibly took out the baby from the womb following which heavy bleeding occurred to the mother. Both the mother and the baby died on way to Brahmapur for higher treatment.
One dies, another injured in JSpur mishap
Jagatsinghpur: One Anil Biswal was killed and another sustained injuries in a road mishap at the Sikharaghat bridge under Naugaon block on Sunday night. Biswal and his friend Babuli Swain from Nuahat village met the accident when the former lost his control and the bike fell into a ditch. locals rescued the duo and sent them to the District Headquarters Hospital. leopard, deer skins seized in M’bhanj
Baripada: Forest personnel on Monday seized skins of a leopard and a deer near Rangamatia under the Pithabata forest range in the Similipal foothills of Mayurbhanj district. A person, who purchased the skins from poachers, was detained and further interrogated to identify the culprits involved in killing of animals, said Similipal forests deputy director Ajit Satapathy. Acting on a tipoff, when the forest officials nabbed the buyer, the poachers apparently fled from the place after delivering the skins, he added.
S’pur rly to launch cleanliness drive Sambalpur: In view of the Clean India Campaign, the Sambalpur Railway Division will hold a special cleanliness drive in its jurisdiction on the occasion the Gandhi Jayanti on October 2. The awareness drive will involve Shramdaan and awareness activities for keeping work spheres neat and clean with special focus on stations and colonies. All railway officers and staff will participate in the Shramdaan for spreading awareness on cleanliness. For this, a complete cleanliness action plan has been prepared to cover stations, trains, tracks, colonies, etc. Tools like public address system, electronic display boards and other infrastructure will also to be used in the drive, in which schoolchildren, volunteers of Bharat Scouts and Guides, NCC and public volunteers can take part.
