Air India service to Delhi, Mumbai till Oct 15

Bhubaneswar: The Air India authorities have extended the flight service Al 665 and Al 570 (Bhubaneswar to Mumbai) and Al 877 and Al 878 (Bhubaneswar to Delhi) to October 15. Earlier, the service hade been extended till September 30.  However, the timings of other flights like (AI 473/474 Delhi-Bhubaneswar-Delhi and 91 601 Delhi-Bhubaneswar-Portblair) at Bhubaneswar remain unchanged, said a Press release issued by the Air India.

Prof Suar gets GP Chatterjee Award

Bhubaneswar: KIIT University’s Biotechnology Director Prof Mrityunjaya Suar was honoured with the prestigious Prof GP Chatterjee Memorial Award for the year 2013 at a function organised by the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) at the University campus here on Sunday. ISCA General President-Elect Dr AK Saxena awarded Prof Suar for his contribution to scientific research and its application for human development. The award carried a plaque, a shawl and cash prize of Rs 10,000. University Vice-Chancellor Prof PP Mathur presented the welcome address, while Convener of the ISCA, Bhubameswar Chapter Dr JK Panigrahi gave a vote of thanks.

 Condolence meeting held for rly engineer

Bhubaneswar: A condolence meeting was held by the East Coast Railway Engineers’ Association (ECoREA) here on Monday for its member S Vykunta Rao (42), who was run over by a train while working on railway tracks at Visakhapatnam. He was working as Senior Section Engineer (Pway). He is survived by his wife and two daughters. Principal Chief Engineer JS Gupta anlong with other officers and ECoREA members attended the condolence meeting.

 Series of book on Barrister Mishra unveiled

Cuttack: A series of book Jati Prana Sindhura Adya Taranga, based on the life style of Barrister Biswanath Mishra, authored by Manmohan Mishra wasunveiled at a function held at the Shree Ramachandra Bhavan here. The function organised by the Utkal Sahitya Samaja, was attended by former Advocate General Jagannath Patnaik as the chief guest while noted litterateur Annada Prasad Ray and Biplabi Kabi Hussein Rabi Gandhi attended it as chief speakers. Internally- acclaimed poet and Padmashree Jayanta Mohapatra inaugurated the event. The speakers spoke about the contributions of Barrister in the formation of a separate Odisha Pradesh.
