Ban on issue of arms licence in Haryana
Chandigarh: Haryana Government on Saturday imposed a complete ban on issue of Arms licence with immediate effect, a Government release said.

ludhiana: A dreaded terrorist of Babbar Khalsa outfit was convicted by a local court on charge of indiscriminate firing at the railway station here on August 25, 2009, in which a tea vendor was killed. Two Government Railway Police constables — Karanpal Singh and Naranjan Singh were also seriously injured in the shoot out. Holding Balbir Singh Bhootna guilty, Additional Sessions Judge Sarabjit Singh Dhaliwal ordered him to undergo rigorous life imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs20,000 on him. The court, however, acquitted his female aide Sukhjinder Kaur for want of convincing evidence against her in this case. Bhootna and Kaur were arrested by the police after an encounter that lasted for more than three hours at the local railway station on that morning.
Policy on land allotment, religious institutions
Chandigarh: Haryana Revenue and Disaster Management department has notified the Policy for allotment of Government land for social, religious, charitable trusts or institutions for construction of places of worship, dharamsala or community centres etc. As per the policy, the applicant agency should be a registered legal entity for example, a Society registered under the Haryana Registration and Regulation of Societies Act 2012; a Trust registered under the Indian Trust Act or a not-for-profit company registered as such under the Indian Companies Act. The Government would consider allotment of land only at places where the Government land is available and can be spared for the purpose after meeting the Government needs. The Government would allot the sites only where the access to such Community sites is from a 15 metres wide road so as to ensure that the access to the site is congestion-free.
Rs126 cr spent on fencing plantation area
Shimla: Himachal Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur on Saturday said Rs126 crore was being spent for fencing of plantation area to enhance the survival rate of the saplings of plants. Presiding over a ‘Van Mahotsav’, Thakur said that to make plantation drive a public campaign, a target of bringing 17,500 hectare of area under plantation had been fixed and five lakh students of 3000 schools had been involved under afforestation campaign. He said that a provision of Rs3 crore had been made and about 45 lakh medicinal plants would be planted.
