CEC Sampath to visit Chandigarh today
Chandigarh: Chief Election Commissioner of India, VS Sampath will visit Chandigarh on July 31 to review the arrangements for the smooth conduct of general election to Haryana Vidhan Sabha, 2014. The Election Commission will meet recognised National and State political parties on August 1 at UT Guest House, Conference Hall, Chandigarh. later on ECI will conduct meetings with Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) and Director General of Police. Commissioner (Excise and Taxation), Commissioner (Income Tax) for Haryana, Divisional Commissioners, Commissioner of Police/Inspector General of Police of all Commissionaires or Ranges, District Magistrates, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Superintendents of Police of State of Haryana to review poll preparedness with regard to the conduct of State legislative Assemblies elections.
‘Haryana has implemented RBSK effectively’
Chandigarh: Director General, Health Services, Haryana Dr NK Arora on Wednesday said the State has effectively implemented the Rashtriya Bal Swashthya Karykram through recruiting Mobile Health teams in all the 119 blocks of the State for early screening of children suffering from birth defects including club foot and establishment of District Early Intervention Centres in all 21 districts for its management.
NCB to incinerate seized Heroin
Chandigarh: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Chandigarh Zonal Unit, will dispose 351.073 kilos of Heroin by incineration on Thursday at incinerator of Rainbow Environment Pvt. ltd. Village Baliyali, Sector-69 Mohali, through High level Committee, after obtaining approval from the respective Courts and Punjab Pollution Control Board. The High level Committee would be presided over by R.P. Singh, Deputy Director General, Northern Region NCB and would have Zonal Director, NCB Chandigarh, Deputy Director, DRI, Amritsar and DSP Crime Chandigarh as its members.
Residents living on brink in Chandi Kotla Village
Panchkula: Despite repeated demands from the affected residents, no rehabilitation plan is in sight for residents of over 75 houses in Village Chandi Kotla. BJP leader Virander Singh Bhau, who is also a former president of Zila Parishad here, has taken a strong note of ruling party’s failure to act on the matter. In a statement issued here, Bhau flayed the Congress for not taking the initiative, forcing many residents to leave their homes in the wake of half-hearted relief operation.

Mehatpur market committee gets new chairman
Chandigarh: Punjab Government on Wednesday nominated the new chairman, vice chairman and members of the Market Committee Mehatpur in district Jalandhar. Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal cleared the file to this effect and orders regarding the nomination of the chairman, vice chairman and members would be issued shortly.
Surinder Kaur Dyal appointed as PSSSB member
Chandigarh: Punjab Government has appointed Surinder Kaur Dyal of ludhiana as Member, Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board. Punjab Government said the term as member would be from the date of assuming charge.
