Rajmata Hem Prava passes away
Bhubaneswar: Hem Prava Devi, senior Rajmata and wife of late Maharaja lt Gen Yadavinder Singh of Patiala, passed away at the age of 100 at her residence here on Wednesday. She was the second daughter of late Raja Aditya Pratap Singh Deo of Saraikella and younger sister of late Maharaja RN Singh Deo. Her mortal remains were consigned to the flames at the Swargadwar at Puri. Many relatives, including, KP Singh Deo of Dhenkanal, JB Singh Deo of Seraikella, KV Singh Deo of Balangirpatna, and MP Singh Deo of Dhenkanal were present.

Man held for outraging woman’s modesty
Kendrapada: The Patkura police arrested one Babaji Behera of Pakhada village here on Tuesday for allegedly outraging the modesty of a fellow village woman while she was bathing in a nearby pond on Monday. The woman lodged an FIR at the Patkura police station on Tuesday, following which the police arrested Behera. The accused was produced before the local court, which remanded him to jail custody.
B’swar cop gets jail term for graft
Baleswar: The Special Vigilance Court of Baleswar on Wednesday in a graft case convicted a former Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police and sentenced him to one-year imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 7,000 and in default another 3 months of imprisonment. Convict Bijendranath Das had been caught while taking bribe of Rs 3,000 from one Niranjan Das for registration of a case when he was posted at the Sergarh outpost in 1999.
