Odisha Tourism participates in TTF
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Tourism participated in TTF Guwahati, Indian’s biggest travel and tourism fair held from June 27 to 29 with a delegation led by State Tourism Director MR Patnaik. Nine tour operators, hoteliers and travel agents from the State participated in the event. A business-to-business meet was organised with international and national tour operators, travel agents and travel writers to attract more tourists to the State. The Odisha Tourism bagged the award in the Excellency for Best Stall category in the event.
IMFA buys Jagannath chariot wheel
Bhubaneswar: The IMFA on Saturday procured a wheel of the chariot of lord Jagannath used in the last year’s Rath Yatra at Puri at a cost of Rs 5 lakh. IMFA vice-president (Corporate Affairs) Sanjeev Das received the wheel from the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration which would be kept at the company’s head office in Bhubaneswar.
Rath Yatra celebrated at KISS
Bhubaneswar: Rath Yatra was celebrated at Shrivani Kshetra of KISS here on Sunday amid religious fervour and gaiety with over 30,000 devotees pulling the three chariots of lord Jagannath, lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra. Chhera Pahnara was performed temple founder Dr Achyuta Samanta, All other rituals were conducted as per those of the Shree Jagganath Temple of Shreekshetra, Puri. The special feature of Ghosayatra here is that Devadalan, the chariot of Goddess Subhadra, was pulled only by females.
DAV CSpur kids hold Car Festival
Bhubaneswar: The tiny tots of the DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur here performed rituals of the Cart Festival of lord Jagannath, lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra at the school premise with much devotion ahead of the Ratha Yatra on Saturday. About 2,000 students actively participated in the divine celebrations.
Bindass litFest held in city
Bhubaneswar: Bindass litfest-2014, a literary festival by Odia magazine BINDASS was organised here on Sunday. A panel discussion was held where authors Ravinder Singh, Saroj Bal, Dr Sangram Jena and Dr Arvind Ray and dramatist Rajnit Pattnaik spoke on various literary topics. Writer and columnist Hara Prasad Das presided over this session. In another session, Asit Mobanty and Ravinder Singh discussed elaborately about the topics on globalisation effects on Indian magazines. Suniti Mund shared an account on BINDASS. A cultural progrmme on fusion, shadow play and songs of music director Prafulla Kar was performed. Kar received the prestigious BINDASS Baristha Samman while the BINDASS Yuba Samman went to Samarendra Patra.
