Badal appoints chairpersons of two boards
Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Sunday gave his nod to appoint chairpersons of two Boards and Corporations of the State Government. Spokesperson said that Dilbagh Hussain has been appointed chairman of newly-constituted Muslim Welfare and Development Board whereas Surinder Singh Pehalwan has been appointed the chairman of Punjab Mulaazam Bhalai Board. likewise, Surinder Kaur Dyaal has been appointed member of Punjab State Subordinate Services Selection Board. The formal orders regarding these appointments would be issued soon, said the spokesperson.
rotational irrigation programme IN PUNJAB
Chandigarh: Punjab Irrigation Department has announced rotational programme for irrigation for the Kharif season through canal water from July 1 to 8. The channels and branches off-taking from Ropar head works, the channels of Sirhind canal system would run on the priority basis from Patiala feeder, Abohar branch, Sidhwan branch, Bathinda branch and Bist-Doab canal, respectively. Spokesperson said that distributaries and branches of BMl, Ghaggar link and its off-taking channels — Ghaggar branch and Patiala minor in Group ‘B’, being in the first preference, would run to their indent. Balance water supplies available would be utilized in Direct Distributaries of Group ‘A’.

Sheath Blight no more a menaceIJ
Panchkula: Punjab’s paddy farmers, who are busy sowing their kharif crop, have a new solution to the menace of Sheath Blight disease in Japanese patented fungicide PUlSOR, marketed by agro-chemical firm Insecticides (India) limited. PUlSOR contains a chemical called Thifluzamide, which is a protective and curative new generation patented fungicide. It is effective against sheath blight that is caused by rhizoctonia solani. A spokesperson said that the product has received an overwhelming response from farmers across the country and will prove to be a boon for farmers in Punjab. Punjab, known as food-bowl of the country, contributes approximately 25 per cent of rice in central pool.

KU smoothly conducts UGC Net
Kurukshetra: Kurukshetra University smoothly conducted the UGC NET at 40 examination centers located in different schools and colleges situated in Kurukshetra city and various teaching departments of the University campus on Sunday. Out of total 12454 who applied, 9693 students appeared for the test. KU Vice-Chancellor lt. Gen. Dr DDS Sandhu visited a number of centres to personally check the smooth conduct of the test. Besides, 12 Observers appointed by the UGC, the University also engaged 4 senior Deans/Professors as observers. The University appointed 630 invigilators and 250 supporting staff for the test. The first session of the test was conducted from 9.30 am to 12 noon and second session from 1.30 pm to 4 pm.
Mohali DlSA organises medico legal camp
Mohali: District legal Services Authority (DlSA), SAS Nagar (Mohali), in association with House Owner’s Welfare Society (Regd), Phase V, organised a legal awareness-cum-free medical checkup camp on Sunday. Anandpur Sahib MP Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra was he chief guest on the occasion, and announced Rs1 lakh grant to the Society so that it may fulfill its started work and services towards humanity. Mohali Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-DlSA Secretary Tarntaran Singh Bindra sensitised public about their legal rights, and made them aware about all schemes of Punjab legal Services Authority and means and ways to avail benefits thereof.
ICAI organises seminar for members
