Casual leave for UT employees for poll

Chandigarh: Chandigarh Administration has decided to grant special casual leave on Wednesday, April 30 to all those employees of Union Territory Administration who are registered voters in Punjab where polling is to be held to enable them to exercise their franchise. This will also be a paid holiday in Industrial Shops and Commercial Establishment and for daily wage employees and casual workers.

UBI’s Review Meeting concludes

Chandigarh: Union Bank of India, Central Office Mumbai concluded its two-day All India Rajbhasha Review Meeting in Chandigarh on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by over 60 delegates from various circles of UBI across the country. The objective of the meeting was to review the projects which were concerned to uplift the Hindi as the national language in all functions of Union Bank of India. SK Jain, Executive Director, UBI applauded the efforts.

Book on women classical dancers released

Chandigarh: On the occasion of World Dance Day, Dr Jaspal Singh, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala released a book named "Women Classical Dancers of India" written by Dr Aarohi Walia Cheema, Assistant Professor, Department of Dance; Punjabi University Patiala. Dr Jaspal Singh appreciated the efforts of Dr Aarohi Walia Cheema in writing a unique and a rare book covering 48 women classical dancers of all disciplines of classical dance.

TVS Motor revenue grows

Chandigarh: TVS Motor Company announced positive results for the financial year 2013-14. New launches and upgrades which the company introduced across the scooter and motorcycle segments augmented an increase in sales, aiding significant bottom line growth. During the year, the company strengthened its presence in the scooter segment introducing TVS Jupiter, styled to cater to the male customer. TVS Jupiter went on to become the most awarded scooters in India.

PU IAS Centre plans new deal for students

Chandigarh: In the wake of increasing competition and to keep up the pace with the changing syllabus and new pattern of Civil Services Examination, the Centre for IAS and Other Competitive Examinations on the Panjab University Campus has decided to give a new shape to already existing programmes and also launch new programmes as per the changed needs of the students. There was a time when most of the questions in the prestigious examination was subject oriented be it history, political science, economy, science etc. Moreover, there were two papers for general studies and students have to take two optional subjects. But under the new pattern, there are four papers of general studies and only one optional subject.
