Absconding girl found

Indore: More than 20 days after a minor girl was abducted, police today handed her over to her parents in Madhya Pradesh's commercial capital. A complaint was lodged by the 16-year-old girl's father on April 8 that his daughter has been abducted by one Rupesh. When police failed to locate the girl, her family sat on a ‘dharna' at Regal Square on Monday. Soon, police swung into action and traced Rupesh's call details and the location of his cellular phone. He was arrested from Bhopal last evening and brought here today.

10-yr jail for two Bangladeshi women

Indore:  A local court today awarded 10 years imprisonment to two Bangladeshi women for abducting and attempting to push a minor girl into flesh trade. The court also imposed a fine of `2,500 each on the duo Rohima  Khatoun (60) and Mariam (30). The sentence was awarded by Additional Sessions Judge Priyadarshan Sharma, who pronounced the two guilty on charges of abduction and child-trafficking, among others. According to prosecution, Khatoun and Mariam abducted a 15-year-old girl in January this year from MIG area here and later tried to take her to Mumbai by Avantika Express. When the train left Indore, the teenager narrated her ordeal to fellow passengers, who alerted the Government Railway Police (GRP). When the train reached Ratlam, GRP took the girl into their custody and arrested the two women, the prosecution said, adding investigations revealed Khatoun and Mariam wanted to force the minor girl into flesh trade.

two UMC staff caught taking bribe

Ujjain: An anti-encroachment gang in-charge and a gangman of the Ujjain Municipal Corporation have been caught red-handed by the Madhya Pradesh lokayukta's Special Police Establishment while accepting a bribe of Rs 8,000, lokayukta sources said. Mahesh Nagar was building his house on his plot at Krishna Vihar Colony. However, gang incharge Mukesh Bali and gangman Manu Awasthi seized the building material on the pretext of illegal construction and began demanding `10,000 for returning it. Nagar had paid ` 2,000 earlier. On the basis his complaint, lokayukta police laid a trap and caught the two while accepting `8,000 as bribe. Both were released after police booked them under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Woman, 2 sons run over by speeding train

Bhopal: A woman and her two sons were run over by a speeding train near Bhanpur area here today, police said. The deceased were identified as Manju Kirar (42), Deepak (29) and Sonu (27). The bodies were found lying on railway track this afternoon, police said adding that it was yet to be ascertained whether the trio committed suicide or it was accidental deaths.
