1.32 lakh widows get pension in State

Chhattisgarh’s 1.32 lakh widows have been getting monthly pension at `300 under the Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme operated by the Social Welfare Department of the State, an official statement said on Saturday.

Under the scheme, widows of the age group of 40 to 79 years get monthly pension.

Officers of Social Welfare Department informed that 1,32,221 women of the State were being given pension benefit from the Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme.

5,862 widows from Raipur district, 5,309 from Balodabazar, 6,225 from Gariyaband, 5,059 from Mahasamund, 4,575 from Dhamtari, 7,028 from Durg, 4,718 from Balod, 1,968 from Bemetara, 8,966 from Rajnandgaon, 2,476 from Kabirdham, 4,836 from Bastar, 4,080 from Kondagaon, 3,464 from Dantewada, 2,599 from Sukma, 6,460 from Kanker and 3,247 from Bijapur district are getting pension benefits.

Departmental officers said that 1,452 widows of Narayanpur district, 8,492 from Bilaspur, 3,282 from Mungeli, 6,327 from Korba, 6,014 from Janjgir-Champa, 12,028 from Raigarh, 3,299 from Jashpur, 3,212 from Sarguja, 3,967 from Balarampur, 3,581 from Surajpur and 3,695 from Korea are benefited from this pension scheme.
