The Congress’ handling of the Telangana issue came in for sharp criticism on Friday from the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, who blamed “dus numbari” Gandhis for the plight of the Seemandhra region. 10 Janpath is the Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s address in New Delhi.
“look at what these dus numbari Gandhis have done to Andhra Pradesh. We want both Telangana and Seemandhra to thrive but the Congress is the kind of doctor that believes in killing the mother while delivering a child,” Modi said while addressing a rally in Gulbarga in Karnataka.
Gulbarga district borders AP and a large number of Telugu speaking people have stake in Hyderabad Karnataka.
“The Congress wants to divide and increase its vote-bank, but Telangana has been created because of the sacrifices of hundreds of people, not because of the Congress. Seemandhra is also a part of India but the Government at the Centre has orphaned it,” he said.
Modi made a scathing attack on the Congress’ vote bank politics and said: “The Congress Party’s identity is vote bank politics, corruption politics and dynasty politics. The Congress’ politics is the politics of divide and rule. They make people fight while they enjoy life in Delhi. They break the country, States and hearts.”
Modi alleged that since the Congress knew it would not get any seat in Seemandhra, it left the region to fend for itself.
Modi said a storm was brewing to engulf the Congress like a tsunami. He said: “The Congress will be wiped out because of the sins the party has committed. The people of this country have understood that the Congress is responsible for all their problems.”
“They had promised to curb inflation in 100 days, but did they live up to their promisesIJ Don’t trust those who betray public trust. While doing something people make mistakes, some things remain, but then one must go and tell the people about it. However, the Congress doesn’t do that,” he added.
Modi also referred to the resignation of noted jurist Fali Nariman from the lokpal selection panel and said this was a clear indictment of the Congress’ corrupt politics.
The State BJP is bringing senior party leaders to campaign in the lok Sabha elections to regain its hold in the State. In the 2009 lok Sabha polls, the BJP won 19 of 28 seats.
