After Now, the ball of forming Telangana State was firmly in Centre's court, one question being hotly debated in political circles was: whether TRS has agreed to merge with CongressIJ
While TRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) dismissed the question saying the issue will come up only after the Bill was passed by Parliament, Congress general Secretary Digvijay Singh was quiet emphatic on the point.
"The TRS will have to merge with the Congress as per the word that the party had given earlier," he told the media in New Delhi.
KCR appeared a bit softer on Thursday compared to his firm rejection of the idea in the past. Earlier, he had repeatedly ruled out such a possibility saying his party would go alone in the coming elections.
Interestingly, during his visit to New Delhi on Friday, KCR will meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as well as BJP chief Rajnath Singh to seek their support in ensuring the passage of Telangana Bill in Parliament session starting from February 5.
Digvijay Singh said that if the Opposition parties support, Telangana Bill will be passed "hundred per cent" by Parliament.
KCR on the other hand went to the extent of saying, "Telangana State will be a reality in two weeks".
