After Sabir Ali row, a fresh controversy dogs the Bihar BJP now with a confidential report blaming one of its candidates for being part of a syndicate that controls the entire smuggling of narcotics in the eastern part of the State.
The central BJP had blamed the Bihar unit for recommending the induction of Sabri Ali, whose membership had to be annulled following massive uproar in the party. However, sources in the Bihar BJP said that they were being made a scapegoat and decision was taken by the Central leaders.
The fresh controversy involved nomination of Satish Chandra Dubey from Valmikinagar lok Sabha constituency while denying ticket to senior State party leader Chandra Mohan Rai. Anguished over denial of ticket Chandra Mohan Rai recently resigned from all party posts and blamed a section of party leaders for giving ticket to a person accused in over a dozen criminal cases.
A confidential report of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has reportedly accused Dubey of being part of a syndicate that controls the smuggling of marijuana and cannabis (ganja and charas) in the eastern part of the district. The SSB is a paramilitary force that patrols the Indo-Nepal border and is responsible for preventing trans-border crimes like smuggling and terrorism.
A similar confidential report from the SSB had put the ruling party JD(U) in great crisis. The report had pointed out to the alleged involvement of State Cabinet Minister Shahid Ali Khan, now JD(U) candidate from Sheohar lok Sabha constituency, with IM operatives in the State.
The State Government and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar himself had refuted all the allegations while giving clean chit to the Minister and fielded him as party’s candidate from Sheohar in place of Sabir Ali. Now, the latest SSB report had put the BJP itself in trouble. In his affidavit filed before the Election Commission, Dubey admitted facing a dozen criminal cases.
Satish Chandra Dubey is sitting BJP MlA from Narkatiaganj in West Champaran district. When reached for his comments over the recent SSB report on his criminal antecedents, Dubey told a private news channel that he was not aware of any such report. “No one, including the SSB, has approached me to know my version. No even policemen have contacted me regarding this. The letter could be figment of imagination of some officer,” Dubey said.
