Congress president Sonia Gandhi is likely to host a ‘farewell’ dinner for the UPA’s Council of Ministers, party MPs and office bearers, besides top bureaucrats on Monday to express her gratitude to all for making it possible through all tough tides.
While sources confirmed that the dinner has been scheduled at 10, Janpath, invitations are yet to be extended. A senior AICC functionary, however, said that it should not be termed as a 'farewell' dinner, but seen as a gesture of the high command which somehow ‘missed’ the party’s traditional lunch during any session of the Parliament. “She could not host during the extended winter session, hence the idea,” said the source.
