A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech at Madison Square, the Congress on Monday dubbed the event as nothing new, but wastage of money to propagate what has already been done by former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Rajiv Gandhi.
Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that Modi’s speech was a waste of money. “Spending Rs 4,000 crores in this programme is a waste of money, had this money been spent in Kashmir, then Indians would have been benefited more. Whatever Modi did at the Madison Square Garden was all managed, many BJP leaders had gone there and were managing everything, all this was not required,” Alvi said.
AICC spokesperson Raj Babbar said that despite creating such a hype of the event, there was nothing new in Prime Minister’s Madison Square’s speech. “long ago, the Congress, like Nehruji and Rajivji, said that India is no more a land of snake charmers but mouth charmers. Many of the points made there have been initiated or done by Congress-led Governments,” Babbar said. The party also took a dig at Modi for accidentally calling Mahatma Gandhi “Mohanlal Karamchand Gandhi”.
