Ahead of the crucial meeting between PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and Governor NN Vohra in Jammu on Wednesday, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ram Madhav on Tuesday asserted partys’ position on the Government formation in the State claiming the BJP would remain part and parcel of the new Government.
“Efforts are on to form the Government. Without us (BJP) no Government is possible in the State,” Madhav said in Jammu. Camping in Jammu since Monday, BJP national general Secretary also held 45 minute long close-door meeting with Governor NN Vohra triggering fresh round of speculations over BJP’s renewed efforts at taking the shot at Government formation.
Madhav had also chaired a core group meeting of BJP leaders in Jammu on Monday evening where senior party leaders deliberated on recent parleys between party leaders at different levels with different formations. Highly placed sources revealed to The Pioneer the meeting between Governor NN Vohra and Madhav was finalised late Monday night after the meeting of the BJP’s core group.
On Tuesday Madhav arrived at the Raj Bhawan along with State BJP chief Jugal Kishore Sharma. Sharma was not present inside the meeting with Madhav. Madhav’s presence in the Raj Bhawan also created flutter in the political circles as he remained closeted with the Governor for about 45 long minutes. Madhav’s meeting with the Governor has assumed significance as it comes ahead of the meeting between PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and NN Vohra on Wednesday.
Emerging out of the meeting Madhav made all possible efforts to duck the media queries. Madhav, however, maintained the visit was nothing but a courtesy call. “I have not discussed anything related to Government formation in the State,” Madhav clarified.
He told reporters, “The BJP delegation was scheduled to meet the Governor on January 1, 2015. “let them meet the Governor and brief him about the party position on Government formation”. On the question of delay being caused and the deadlock over Government formation Madhav said, “Efforts are on. Without us no Government is possible”.
He said we have made it clear that the BJP would be a partner in the new Government in the State. On the question of deciding the name of the Chief Minister, Madhav said, “We would discuss these questions with our alliance partner.” Meanwhile, State BJP chief and party MP from Jammu-Poonch Jugal Kishore Sharma has also slammed proposed move to forge grand alliance led by Mufti Muhammad Sayeed in the State. Sharma said electorate in Jammu region have voted the BJP and want to see it as part of the Government. “Any grand alliance sans BJP would be anti-Jammu and against the popular mandate,” he cautioned.
