The CBI on Sunday busted a racket involved in leaking the question papers for the Assistant Railway loco Pilots recruitment examination held by the South Western Railway and arrested 13 candidates, chief vigilance inspector, an advocate and a private person.
A CBI spokesperson said an FIR has been registered for criminal conspiracy and cheating under various sections of the IPC against Divisional Personnel officer, Chief Vigilance Inspector of South Western Railways, an advocate, a private person, besides the 13 candidates.Based on source information, a CBI team carried out a search operation at around 6.30 am at an apartment in Bangalore, where the 13 aspirants were kept with a promise that the question paper of the examination, which was scheduled to be held on Sunday, would be leaked for a bribe of Rs5 lakh.
The spokesperson said after taking the 13 candidates into custody, residences of the other accused were also searched and some sample question papers and cash of Rs1.5 lakh was seized.However, other than the said candidates, no one from the gang has been arrested so far and investigation is on to nab other members of the gang involved in leaking the question papers.
