Thursday, 31 July 2014 | Omer Farooq | Hyderabad

Facing a resource crunch and deficit in Budget, Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to ban outsourcing of its work and has directed the officials not to organise any Government meeting in hotels.

According to the new tenpoint guidelines of the Government for enforcing fiscal discipline and cut down expenditure, purchasing new vehicles has also been banned and the Government has also directed not take vehicles on hire. Ministers and higher officials have been asked to travel in economy class. Officials were asked to be careful in spending every single rupee.

The Government has asked all the departments to initiate steps to mobilise additional resources. Officials were asked to cancel foreign tours. While these guidelines will apply on all the Government officials from the Secretariat to the Panchayat level, some prestigious Government programmes have been exempted from it. AP Government has come out with the steps after the recent training programme for the State legislators at two most expensive five star hotels in the city.
