Carry forward Modi's success: Advani

BJP patriarch lK Advani on Sunday asked the newly-elected party MPs to carry forward the success that Prime Minister Narendra Modi achieved in the 2014 lok Sabha polls. lavishing praise on the Prime Minister, he said Modi had hit a triple century in his first Test match itself.

“Advaniji spoke about carrying forward the success that Modiji had got by hitting triple century in his first win,” Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said.Javadekar said that Advani also told the Parliamentarians to not be arrogant and work as servants of the public.

Advani was speaking at the second and concluding day of the training session for first-time BJP MPs at Surajkund. The meet also deliberated on the impact and reach of social media. The RSS also joined the  deliberation on Sunday and Suresh Soni, who is the RSS points person with BJP, asked the MPs to keep in mind that the  nation has high expectation from them and compared  the May 16 lok Sabha poll verdict with Independence Day when the British  were forced to leave India.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj were among the top BJP leaders who addressed the MPs. Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Prakash Javadekar addressed the MPs on social media and media-related issues and told them how to cultivate these platforms to spread message.

Several MPs reportedly said  they had little or no presence on the social media and the party should help them in making their presence felt in cyber space. Javadekar spoke about dealing with the media in general and advised the MPs to use it with caution. They were also told not to bring their differences out in the media and keep their approach to the media issue-based.

Speaking on the occasion, RSS joint general secretary Soni told the first-time MPs that May 16 should be remembered as Congress was dethroned in the same way as the British were forced to leave India on August 16, 1947.The RSS ideologue also emphasised about the  the importance of ideology and said that nothing should be done to compromise it.“Most of you are aware of the RSS and its ideology. Ideology is our soul and under no condition should one get diverted from it,” Soni reportedly told the MPs.

He urged the MPs to fulfill people’s expectations, saying, “It is a matter of great joy that you have come to power and people have expressed confidence (in you). This is your responsibility. People’s trust should not be breached”.
