With an aim to highlight poor power situation and bad law and order in the State BJP legislators started their two days long dharna against the Samajwadi Party Government here opposite Vidhan Bhawan on Monday.
“The Government has failed on all fronts. There is neither law nor order. The Samajwadi Party party came to power with a promise to curb crime but has failed to do so. To highlight Government’s failure, the party legislators were forced hold dharna,” BJP state spresident laxmi Kant Bajpai said while addressing the legislators.
He said that development in the State has come to a naught. The money meant for development is not being used. The youth feel dejected because of lack in employment opportunity. “The BJP law makers are raising all these demands and If still the Government does not respond the party will chalk out a future course of action,” he said.
leader of the BJP legislature party in the state assembly Suresh Khanna said that Government was planning to increase power tariff. On one hand people are not getting electricity while on the other the Government wants to increase tariff which will not be tolerated, he said.
leader of the party in Vidhan Parishad Hridaya Narain Dixit said that state government is blaming centre for its all failures. Maintaining law and order is state’s responsibility similarly it is UP Government that is responsible for providing quality electricity to its residents. “On both the counts the Government has failed,” he said.
The legislators started their dharna at 10 am which will continue till 5 pm on Tuesday.
Khanna told reporters here that at night the legislators will recite Hanuman Chalisa and will watch speeches of Prime Minister Narendra Modi given in the US and in other places. “We will sleep on the streets tonight and almost all the legislators have joined this agitation,’’ Khanna said.
The eight-point charter of demands of the BJP legislators include deteriorating law and order, power crisis, payment of cane dues, bad condition of roads, illegal mining ,no relief work in the drought hit 44 districts and refusal of protocal by the officials to the peoples representatives.
