This time it is the turn of a Trinamool Congress MlA to threaten a Government officer with beheading for discharging his electoral duties.Dinabandhu Gayen, the BDO of Habra in North 24 Parganas, has been assaulted and threatened with murder if he dared to remove the Trinamool poster and hording including those of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from Government properties.
While the incident took place on March 25, the police arrested 10 TMC workers connected with it as late as on Sunday, sources said adding they were all granted bail. The BDO, who wrote a complaint to the SDO against MlA Dhiman Roy accusing him of assaulting and threatening him with beheading him and chopping off his legs if he did not obey them, complained the MlA of Ashoknagar “abused me on March 25 over telephone and thereafter ...entered my chamber and assaulted me physically and insulted me in front of my employees and also confined me to my office for quite some time.”
The BDO also complained that “the MlA and his team threatened me by saying that the removed flexes, banners, posters etc have to be set up once again” by him otherwise they would “behead you and cut off your legs at the station.” State Minister and Trinamool convener of the area JP Mullick, however, dismissed the charges as false saying “Roy is a good man and has a clean record.”
The MlA himself said, “We had only a heated exchange and we did not even touch the glass of water kept at his table.”Meanwhile, the Election Commission had asked the SP to send a report on the incident, sources said.
