The Andhra Pradesh Government has announced an ex gratia of Rs5 lakh to the family of the labourers from the State who died in the collapse of an under-construction 11-storey building in Chennai on Saturday evening.
State Home Minister Chinna Rajappa told the reporters in East Godavari district that the Government would take all the necessary steps to help the families of the victims.The officials in Chennai have confirmed the death of 11 workers in the collapse.While 29 people were rescued from the rubble another 32 were feared trapped inside.Most of the victims were labourers from Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts of Andhra Pradesh and neighboring Odisha.A special team was also sent from Srikakulam to Chennai to coordinate the rescue and relief operations.
