VK Singh set to join BJP tomorrow
New Delhi: Former Army Chief Gen VK Singh, who was engaged in a long-drawn battle with the Government over his age issue, will join the BJP on Saturday. The decision comes months after he shared dais with BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi at an ex-servicemen rally in Rewari in Haryana. It is, however, not yet clear whether BJP would field him in the upcoming lok Sabha polls.
‘Govt committed to one rank, one pension policy’
New Delhi: Assuring the armed forces that the Government is committed to implement “One Rank One Pension” policy, Defence Minister AK Antony on Wednesday evening directed the Defence accounts department of his Ministry to initiate necessary steps to disburse pension. More than 25 lakh ex-servicemen are expected to get the first installment of “One Rank One Pension” in April with the commencement of new fiscal, Defence Ministry spokesman Sitanshu Kar said here on Thursday.

Polavaram project
New Delhi: Senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday asked Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia to approve all the plan proposals which the Centre promised during the discussion of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill, 2014, in the Rajya Sabha. Naidu, who met Ahluwalia, said that he was particularly concerned for the implementation of Polavaram national project which was lagging behind since 1979-80 when the first foundation stone was laid by the then Chief Minister when he was an MlA in th State Assembly.
India, Israel ink three anti-terror pacts
New Delhi: India and Israel on Thursday signed three agreements to strengthen the efforts in the war against terror and beef up bilateral security relations. The agreements relate to Mutual legal Assistance Treaty in Criminal Matters, Agreement on Protection of Classified Material and Agreement on Cooperation in Homeland and Public Security.
