Two persons have been arrested for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl in from North Delhi’s Timarpur area. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when the victim was returning home from a market.
Police said that the accused have been identified as Kapil (23) and Kishan (24). “The incident took place when the victim was returning home from a market nearby and both the accused waylaid her. They threatened her with dire consequences if she informed anyone of the matter and forcibly took her in an isolated place where they raped her,” the officer added.
The incident came to light when a police constable of Timarpur police station who was on routine patrolling heard screaming noises and apprehended both the accused red-handed.
“The constable immediately informed the police after making a call to police control room (PCR). The victim was taken to nearby hospital for medical examination which confirmed rape and her family members were informed about the incident,” police officer said, adding that on the basis of the victim’s statement, a case was registered under Sections of 376 (rape), 506 (threatening) and 34 of IPC at Timarpur police station of North Delhi and both the accused have been sent to judicial custody.
