Three persons have been arrested, two of whom were identified as relatives of a head constable, on charges of impersonating as police personnel.
Nawab Ali, Iklash and Nadeem were arrested late on Monday night fromIP Extension area by a night patrolling team, said East District Police. On being asked to show ID cards, Nawab Ali, one of the accused, flashed a Delhi Police ID issued in head constable Sayeed Akhtar’s name. “When police asked him about his Personal Information System (PIS) number, he had no clue about it and following verification, the card turned out be fake,” a police officer said. Police said that head constable Sayeed Akhtar, posted at lahori Gate police station, was the brother-in-law of the accused Nawab Ali and Iklash, who belong to Uttar Pradesh.
“On sustained interrogation Nawab disclosed that he prepared the fake ID after scanning the ID of his brother-in-law. He was using this ID for hassle-free movement in Delhi/NCR area,” the officer said. Police has registered a case of forgery and impersonating as Government servant against the three accused at Madhu Vihar police station.
