Wants all hands on deck on Global Handwashing Day
The Revenue Department has decided to launch a cleanliness drive in close coordination with Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and Market Trader Associations (MTAs) in keeping with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Clean India.
According to the department, they will also organise an event to celebrate Global Handwashing Day in schools and other places across the national Capital during Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan scheduled from October 2 to October 23 to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. “RWAs and MTAs will also be involved in cleanliness drive in various localities. The department will also organise an event to celebrate Global Handwashing Day in schools and other places,” said a senior Government official.
The official said that the Revenue Department would organise a pledge taking event at Divisional Commissioner’s office and in all DC offices which will be followed by a sanitation drive.
“The department will ensure different activities related to sanitation and awareness programmes by GRCs and Nehru Yuva Kendra. All officers concerned have been directed to ensure cleanliness drive in all field offices such as sub-registrar offices, BDO offices, tehsildar offices and patwarkhanas,” he added. He also said that as per lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung’s directives, monitoring and inspection of sanitation drive in schools, hospitals will be conducted by municipal corporations and other organisations concurrently by all the DCs. “The cleanliness drive in office complexes will focus on sanitation, weeding out of old record/streamlining, and removal of unserviceable items,” he added.
