Delhi Police, which had recently launched a special drive to reunite missing children with the parents, has restored another 23 children staying in different children’s homes of Delhi to their respective families. So far, a total of 26 children have been reunited with their families by the Crime Branch under Operation Milap, which was launched two weeks ago.
Further, local police of all districts of Delhi is being asked to screen and document all the children residing in the shelter homes, railway platforms, bus stands, roads, religious places, etc. Their photographs will be taken by police officials concerned and documentation will be undertaken to link them properly.
The idea of launching such a drive involving several teams was formulated and executed under the guidance of Special Commissioner of Police Taj Hassan. Teams of Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) and Eastern Range, led by DCP Dinesh Kumar Gupta, also made constant efforts in identifying and reuniting their children.
The teams visited these children’s homes and checked the available database. On scrutiny of the records, the police officers zeroed in on the children whose details were incomplete or sketchy. These children were taken into confidence and after compassionate persuasive conversation, they revealed clues about their native place.
“On the basis of the minor clues and details provided by them, their parents were contacted either over telephone or via local police stations,” said a senior police officer. The children, who belong to different age groups had come to Delhi either after being rebuked by elders or had come to the national Capital to look for employment.
