Missing teen found hanging by a shoelace in Vasant Vihar park

Monday, 30 June 2014 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

A 14-year-old boy who had gone missing few days before was found dead under highly mysterious circumstance. The body of the boy was found hanging inside a park in Vasant Vihar on Saturday afternoon. The body was discovered by neighbours who in turn informed police. A case has been registered and the investigation has been taken up.

According to police, the boy has been identified as one Aniket. He was discovered with a shoelace tied to a tree branch. What has baffled police is the fact that his feet were touching the ground. Police said they were examining whether the boy was sexually assaulted before being killed. The neighbours who noticed body too corroborated the same with the sleuths.

“It seems the boy was murdered somewhere else and his body was dumped in the park by the killers. His body has been sent for a post-mortem exam, said a police official of the South district. One of his relatives told police that the cord was too loose and an attempt was made to keep the head of the boy intact with the support of a wooden plank.

Rakesh, Aniket’s father, a resident of Bhanwar Singh Camp in Vasant Vihar, alleged that his son was missing for the last few days. He also said that Aniket had failed in his examination and was found in bad company. Rakesh reportedly told police that he had asked his son to steer clear of those boys who he alleged had murdered his son.
