No cock-and-bull story as Gzb councillors play the flute before a tethered buffalo
With their five-day-long protest for release of “pending” infrastructure fund being “ignored” by the State Government, Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam councillors on Monday resorted to yet another bizarre protest — playing flute before a buffalo in their attempt to hammer across the message that the administration was deaf and dumb.
A buffalo was tied to a tree at the Collector’s office here and councillors from all political parties and BJP leaders played the flute before it to lodge their protest, portrayal of a Hindi proverb bhains ke aage been bajana (an exercise in futility). The onlookers were amused to see this novel way of protesting. The councillors said that they are left with very little option as the administration was just not willing to listen to them. “The administration as well as the State Government has become deaf-mute and the demand for release of Infrastructure Development Fund to the tune of Rs 160 crore is being continuously ignored in spite of earlier bizarre protests,” BJP leader Surendra Pratap Singh said.
