Deepika Setia feels she is a victim of ‘corporate warfare’
A 46-year-old female consultant and adviser to a private company was thrashed by three men with hockey sticks on the service lane of Noida-Greater Noida expressway on Monday morning.
Police said the consultant Deepika Setia, resident of A Block of Sector 46, is employed with Haryana City Gas Distribution limited (HCGDl). She was on her way to Tis Hazari court in New Delhi when she was assaulted by the three unidentified men.
An FIR has been registered at Sector 49 police station. Setia feels she is a victim of ‘corporate warfare’. She is fighting a legal lawsuit for her company. Her left leg was badly fractured during the assault.
“Around 10 am, I was going to a Delhi court in my i20 along with driver Ram Singh. When I reached Mahamaya Balika Inter College on the service lane of Noida-Greater Expressway, a white Maruti Ritz rear-ended my car. I didn’t make too much of it since it was a minor bump. But the driver of the Ritz overtook us and blocked our way. The driver of the car started inspecting his car,” said Setia, adding, “I did not suspect any foul play since the driver had already apologised to us. But suddenly three men came out of the car and slapped my driver. This startled him. They then yanked me out of the car and started beating me with hockey sticks.”
Setia alleged she and her family made a dozen calls on the emergency hotline after which cops reached the spot 45 minutes later. She was admitted to Max Hospital in Noida after completion of police formalities. “We have registered an FIR at Sector 49 police station and have started investigation. We are trying to identify the assailants, who attacked her, with the help of CCTV footage installed in the area,” said a senior police officer.
