Grand Venice: It's a dead ringer

Wednesday, 31 December 2014 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

In an attempt to develop a little Italy of its own for Indians, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav inaugurated Grand Venice in Greater Noida. Sprawled over 11 acres, the commercial project is based on an Italian theme with similar style architecture where one can find light towers, leaning Tower of Pisa and gondola rides on water canals built inside the mall.

The mall also has a centralised weather management system with a faux sky ceiling. Inaugurating the project from his 5 Kalidas Marg residence via videoconference, Akhilesh Yadav said the State Government was committed to providing full cooperation and support for those investing here.

With Grand Venice, Bhasin Group has promised Indians a little Italy of its own with the kind of architecture, construction, amenities and services. Said Satinder Bhasin, MD, Bhasin Group, “We dared to dream a few years back and envisaged recreating the romance of Venice in the heart of Delhi NCR. Our dream has finally taken shape. The Grand Venice will emerge as a major tourist destination.”

Retail heads, corporate honchos, bureaucrats, media professionals and socialites lent heft to the occasion.
