Delhi Government on Wednesday sanctioned Rs6.04 crore for procurement of additional feeder buses to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The Transport Department has proposed to add 400 more feeder buses to the existing fleet of DMRC feeder buses. Further, 24 new permits were issued to the DMRC mini buses which have a seating capacity of 27 passengers each. These buses are equipped with Global Position System (GPS). The fare fixed by STA for these Metro feeder buses is Rs7 upto 8 kms and Rs10 for beyond 8 kms of journey.
“The permits for these additional 24 mini buses have been issued by the Transport Department for the following four routes — Vishwa Vidyalaya Metro Station to Burari, Vishwa Vidyalaya Metro station to Gokalpuri, Hauz Khas Metro station to Chattarpur Metro station and Azadpur Metro station to Kanhiya Nagar Metro station,” said Delhi Government officials. The Delhi Metro officials said they have received the permits for the feeder buses and they will be inducted in service within four to five days.
The passengers are transported in Delhi through public transport by buses of DTC, cluster buses and Delhi Metro Rail. For last mile connectivity for Delhi Metro Rail, DMRC operates Metro feeder mini and midi buses. The Transport Department has authorised DMRC to operate 117 feeder buses on 16 routes.
At present, DMRC operates its feeder bus service on 17 routes. The more popular ones are those near stations in Dwarka, Yamuna Bank and Pragati Maidan. Other routes touch Metro stations like Welcome, Vishwavidyalaya, Pitampura, Rohini, Pragati Maidan, Janakpuri, Dwarka, Yamuna Bank, Mayur Vihar, Chattarpur, Geeta Colony, Jorbagh, Badarpur, Nehru Place, etc.
The routes include Shastri Park to DDA Sports Complex Vasundhara Enclave, Kirti Nagar to Pushpanjali/West Enclave, Rajendra Palace to Anand Parbat, Kirti Nagar to Sagarpur, Dwarka Sector 9 to Dwarka Sector 11 Metro station, Dwarka Sector 10 to Najafgarh (Terminal).
