The tragic death of a boy in Trilokpuri sparked protest by the family members and locals who accused the lax attitude of police that led to the incident. Not only did the PCR react late to the incident that let the errant driver escape but also they accused the local police of failing to keep a check on the activities along the roadside.
Holding a protest at the Mayur Vihat police station, the family alleged that the owner of the sweet shop was boiling the sugar syrup on the road side that essentially led to the death of their son. They further blamed it on police that the accused managed to flee from the scene and also went untraceable as his house was found locked.
“If the police could have acted swiftly after the incident then they could have traced the accused and nabbed him but it did not happened as the police reached long after the incident,” said Sanjay, father of the deceased.Pinky, mother of the deceased could not believe that her child is no more as it was so unfortunate for her to see the child dying in front of her own eyes. The family members demanded a quick inquiry by the police and also sought financial assistance for treatment of the mother. The financial condition of the family is not sound and they won’t be able to bear the medical expenses of the mother. Pinky burnt both her forearms in the incident. The father of the deceased runs a bicycle shop at Trilokpuri and it has become very difficult for him to meet up the expenses required.
