Thursday, 31 July 2014 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

In a bizarre incident, a girl who was taken as dead resurfaced along with her maternal uncle whom she married. The family members had created ruckus and blocked traffic after the body of a girl was found in Narela in Outer Delhi. The body was identified by her parents as that of their daughter Shalu (19). The body was cremated after an autopsy was conducted. Station House Officer of Jyoti Nagar was also sent to district lines and new teams were formed to crack the case.

The girl went missing on July 13 in Jyoti Nagar area in North East Delhi. A case was registered at Jyoti Nagar police station. On July 25 an unclaimed body of a girl was found lying in Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital in Narela which the family identified as of their daughter Shalu. Once her identity was confirmed by the family members an autopsy was conducted and the body was handed over to the family. However, another police team was formed which got a tip-off that the girl was living at a place called Amla in Bareily.

“The police team reached Amla and found her with her maternal uncle Sanjay. Sanjay and Shalu claimed to have married each other in a temple in Amla,” said a Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-East) RA Sanjeev. Shalu was brought to the Capital and produced before the court where she stated that she had left the house on her own.
